B.A. Sociology
In Depth
I received a masters in social work at Smith College School for Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Bowdoin College. This education provided both theory and practice to engage the tension between individual health and creativity in relation to the failures of society.
While attending Smith College, I interned on the children's psychiatric unit at Providence Behavioral Health Hospital as well as at South Shore Mental Health providing outpatient therapy to adults.
Post-masters, I worked as a therapist at a middle school in Oakland for three years and then as a therapist/care-coordinator with Bay Area kids and teens in the child welfare and/or juvenile probation systems. During this time, I completed two year-long post-graduate trainings at the Jung Institute of San Francisco.
While working as a therapist for six years at one of the first gender-affirming community medical clinics in the country, I also was a per diem emergency room social worker and attended a year-long psychoanalytic course at Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
To integrate my professional experiences with a critical-contemplative lens, I started a doctoral program in East-West psychology at California Institute of Integral Psychology.
I began my private practice after finishing my doctoral coursework and went on to complete my PhD. This education provided both theory and practice to approach the crisis and elegance of individual health in response to the failures of Western psychology.
Over 20 years of a regular meditation practice, dancing, and love of the outdoors also inform how I work.
