Trauma Therapy & EMDR
Trauma-informed psychotherapy for adults throughout CO and CA
Trauma can continue to affect us long after an experience is over. You may know intellectually that you are safe, while your body, emotions, or relationships continue to respond as though something is still wrong. Trauma can come from a single event or from repeated experiences of fear, instability, neglect, loss, discrimination, or relationship rupture.
You Might Be Seeking Support Because…
-
You feel anxious, on edge, shut down, or easily overwhelmed
-
Certain situations trigger reactions that feel larger than the present moment
-
You struggle with shame, self-criticism, anger, or a sense that something is wrong with you
-
Relationships bring up intense fear, avoidance, or difficulty trusting
-
Memories, emotions, or physical sensations from the past continue to intrude
-
You understand your patterns but still find them difficult to change
My Approach
My trauma work draws from relational and psychodynamic therapy, somatic approaches, attachment theory, parts work, mindfulness, and EMDR.
Trauma therapy does not have to mean immediately revisiting the most painful experiences of your life. We can move at a pace that feels manageable and use the approaches that fit you best.
What Is EMDR?
EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that can help reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories and the thoughts, feelings, and physical reactions connected to them.
It can be especially helpful for PTSD and trauma-related symptoms, but it is not the right fit for everyone. Some people benefit more from relational, somatic, or exploratory approaches. We can decide together what feels most useful.
The goal is not to make you fit a particular method, but to help you feel less governed by what happened in the past.
